Kevin Scott Nash (born July 9, 1959, Detroit, Michigan, United States) is an American actor and former professional wrestler, signed to WWE. He is best known for his time with WCW where he performed under his real name, Kevin Nash. He also performed under his real name in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
Nash was born into a devout Christian family in southwest Detroit, Michigan. Nash’s father, Robert, died of a heart attack on April 4, 1968, aged 36, when Nash was just eight years old. On December 27, 1994, Nash’s mother, Wanda, died after a four-year struggle against breast cancer. He attended Aquinas High School and the University of Tennessee, where he majored in psychology and minored in educational philosophy. At the University of Tennessee, Nash was a centre for the Tennessee Volunteers basketball team. He remained on the team from 1977 to 1980, during which time the team made it to the NCAA Sweet 16.
From 1993 through early 1996, Nash performed for the WWF under the name Diesel where he was also known as “Big Daddy Cool”. During his time there, he won the WWF World, Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships and at that year’s Slammy Awards won the MVP and Best Tag Team with Shawn Michaels.
Between WWF, WCW, and TNA, Nash has won a total of 21 championships, including being a six-time world champion and a 12-time world tag team champion between the three promotions. Nash’s 358-day WWF Championship reign is the longest of the 1990s. Kevin Nash joined WWE in 1993 and joined his best friend Shawn Michaels. He was given the nickname ‘Diesel’ and formed an onscreen partnership with Michaels. For the next two years, his career thrived and he won many titles. He also formed an offscreen, backstage group called ‘The Kliq’ with his real-life wrestling friends.
Nash returned to the company in 2002 with his best friends and NWO buddies Hulk Hogan and Scott Hall.
Nash was a member of The Kliq, an influential backstage group that included Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Scott Hall, and X-Pac. Nash was inducted individually into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2015 and in 2020 as a member of the New World Order alongside Hogan, Hall, and X-Pac.
